CEO of Southwest Windpower, Frank Greco, announced today that he has found a successor. “The company has positioned itself as a global leader and is prepared to take its next generation step in growth. R. Dixon Thayer has accepted the position and will start with the company as its CEO on December 8, 2009. Mr. Thayer comes to Southwest Windpower with a history of experience and success that we believe will take the company to the next and subsequent levels it is destined for under his leadership,” said Greco.

National Wind, working with area ranchers and Montana Wind Resources LLC, has formed Judith Highlands Energy LLC, which plans to develop more than 500 megawatts (MW) of community-owned wind projects in the central-Montana counties of Judith Basin, Wheatland, Golden Valley, and Fergus.

Next-generation wind turbines and drive trains will be tested by the Clemson University Restoration Institute, thanks to a US $45 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The Clemson University Restoration Institute and its partners will combine the grant with $53 million of matching funds, to build and operate a large-scale wind turbine drive train testing facility at the institute’s research campus on the former Navy base.
